One thing I didn’t think about when I started this blog was what would happen if Jair was traded. I don’t think I’d have the desire to maintain it if he were on another team. He interests me because of his organizational ties. But that’s all putting the cart before the horse.

In Baseball Prospectus today Nate Silver took a look at what AL Central clubs should do this offseason. One move he thinks they should make is to trade Jurrjens to the Atlanta Braves for Edgar Renteria.

It wouldn’t be a bad move for the Tigers who would fill a hole at shortstop, take on a reasonable salary, and not have to dip into their current big league roster. Plus with Renteria’s ties to Dombrowski (he was signed in 1992 by the Marlins under Dombrowski) and Leyland (he played on the 1997 World Series team) the move wouldn’t surprise me at all. But selfishly I’d hope that the Tigers could pull it off by sending some combination of Virgil Vasquez/Jordan Tata/Eulogio De La Cruz/Dallas Trahern.
