Jurrjens sad to be leaving the Tigers

Jon Paul Morosi got in touch with Jurrjens the day after the trade:

Yet when he received the call from Detroit club president/general manager Dave Dombrowski on Monday, Jurrjens felt as if someone had taken his breath away.

“It took me awhile to accept it,” he said. “The Tigers will always be close to my heart. They gave me the chance to fulfill my dream.”

It turns out though that the Braves are his father’s favorite team, so I guess he’s got that going for him.

  • Jair Jurrjens, as a long time Braves fan, I think I speak for all Braves fans and welcome you with open arms. I hope this is a start for a succesful career with the Altanta Braves, and we are all eager to see you out on the mound.
